Charter Policies
-
Once you have decided to book a yacht and before you make any payment for your booking, a proper contract, your Charter Agreement, will be provided to you detailing all particulars of your charter and all agreed terms, rights and obligations (such as what is included in the charter fee, payment terms, cancellation policy, etc.).
The following are industry standards by which our company also abides.
Qualifications for bareboat charter
Bareboat yacht chartering requires for the intended skipper a valid International Sailing Certificate of Competence or a national equivalent, as well as enough experience to handle the yacht safely. In addition, at least one of the crew members should possess sailing experience to act as skipper assistant.
The skipper must provide original sailing certificate, (in English language or officially translated). Please note that certificates for motor yachts, for sailing on day-light only or with weather limitations, are not accepted by the Greek Port Authorities.
Standard procedures for bareboat and skippered charter
There is a standard procedure which is being followed when taking over the yacht:
The check-in takes place at 17.00 p.m. on the first day of your charter. The check-out is fixed at 09.00 a.m. in the morning of the last day of the charter period. It is mandatory that the yacht returns to the agreed base the day before the last day, by 18.00 p.m.
Our team will provide you with a detailed inventory as well as a comprehensive yacht briefing and handover making sure you feel confident and at ease with every aspect of your starting sailing holiday.
In case you go for the skippered option, the skipper is fully responsible in taking over the yacht.
Provisions
The yacht will be delivered to you with full fuel and freshwater reservoirs.
The costs of provisions (food, drinks and other necessary goods) are under your responsibility. To facilitate provisioning we will give you a list of necessary items, including indications of nearby stores.
As an option, we can provision the boat on your behalf with everything you need from food, drinks and any other goods upon your check-in time .
Reposition
We can agree on special arrangements in order to fit your schedule if it is possible, such as arranging the location and the time of your check-in and check-out according to your wish (depending on the boat’s planning). However please bear in mind that when the boat is requested to start and/or terminate a charter outside its homeport, the Samos Marina, then a delivery and/or redelivery fee may apply depending to the boat’s planning.
Many customers prefer a tailor made sailing experience which we prepare in advance and in close communication with them. This may include any of the options listed here as well as additional services we offer such as: booking accommodation and tours in advance or on the spot, re-positioning of sailboat, etc.
Payment and cancellation policies
-
Payment
A deposit of 50% of the charter fee is payable by bank transfer to guarantee the booking. The remaining 50% of the charter fee is payable by bank transfer one month before the check-in date. Instructions for the payment of other mandatory fees, chosen options and additional services will be forwarded in due time, depending on their exact content (except fuel and water consumption to be calculated and paid at the check-out).
Guarantee Deposit
A guarantee deposit of 2500 € by credit card, which ensures that you are responsible only up to that amount for any loss or damage may be caused. At the end of your charter the Guarantee Deposit will be refunded back to you totally or partially in case of damages.
Insurance
Our sailboat is insured under to the Greek law against risks arising from liability to third parties and damage to the hull, machinery and equipment in excess of the guarantee deposit.
Damage Waiver Fee
The (optional) damage waiver fee covers any loss or damage by accident to third party or to the yacht and its equipment by negligence or malicious intent (e.g. theft). It is not refunded under any circumstances. It can be paid at the check-in.
Cancelation Policy
Cancellation fees are calculated depending on the period of time between the date of cancellation and the check-in date as follows:
- More than 60 days before check-in: 30% to the total charter fee.
- Between 60 and 30 days before check-in: 50% to the total charter fee.
- Less than 30 days before check-in: 100% to the total charter fee.
Cancellation due to COVID19
In case the customer falls ill with COVID19 and cannot travel on the arranged dates, he/she can choose to rebook for a later charter period during the 2022 season, depending on yacht availability.
The customer can also choose to rebook for Summer 2023, given the rebooking takes place before 31 January 2023.
A formal certification by a medical doctor and other evidence of the cancellation of the trip to Greece (air tickets, etc.) is required in order to avoid cancellation fees in this unfortunate circumstance.
